The Telegraph claims that “Richard III may have been as anxious and fearful as William Shakespeare portrayed him – he ground his teeth with stress” but Dr Rai actually concluded in his paper that the dentine exposure was "more likely due to normal dietary abrasion and erosion" and that it was "not severe" because he was a high status individual. Medieval bread contained sand from grinding flour between millstones and his bread would be high quality so contain less sand. Also, it isn’t clear if Richard ever claimed that Edward IV was a bastard. There are huge discrepancies between the reports of various chroniclers as to what Ralph Shaa and Buckingham supposedly said, all the way from the claim made in Titulus Regius - that Edward V was a bastard because his parents weren't legally married, no mention that Edward IV was one - to some seriously wild tales. It could be that some confused the new claim about Edward V with the well-known one about his father, which had been around for years and was spread, among others, by Richard’s brother George.Cherry Bloodnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3264965526853735683.post-53876131843439552662015-08-20T13:49:01.791+01:002015-08-20T13:49:01.791+01:00I'd love to know who you are lol! And yes, if I had been EW, I would have gone into sanctuary and never come out!Paula Loftinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17138899684247746388noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3264965526853735683.post-8125210613268893642015-08-20T13:10:17.395+01:002015-08-20T13:10:17.395+01:00Apparently, there was a streak of ruthlessness in ...Apparently, there was a streak of ruthlessness in many royalty during that time, and Richard was just keeping in with the times along with his paranoia. I completely agree with this article, for it also shows that nothing is black and white, and there are always shades of grey. I do not condone what Richard has done, and my heart aches for the princes in the tower. It does also explain why Elizabeth Woodville fled for sanctuary. I would have done exactly the same thing if I was in her shoes. Who knew what Richard III was capable of at that point?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3264965526853735683.post-90600808398376728332015-08-20T11:18:42.891+01:002015-08-20T11:18:42.891+01:00He was merely a man of his time and we cannot fath...He was merely a man of his time and we cannot fathom the workings of his mind. That power should fall into the hands of the Woodvilles is probably the tipping point. And Henry Tudor's actions when he became king were equally bloodthirsty and unpleasant as he wiped out any possible legitimate claimants to the throne.p.d.r. lindsay the authorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07531238218297360461noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3264965526853735683.post-5278096573923742012015-08-20T09:59:52.618+01:002015-08-20T09:59:52.618+01:00Brava Paula!
